Corning, California – December 19, 2025 – Through the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians proudly continued its longstanding tradition of generosity during the holiday season by donating funds and hundreds of toys to organizations supporting families throughout Tehama County.
This year, the Tribe helped ensure children experienced the joy and excitement of the Christmas season by contributing to three toy drives, organized by three organizations. Two of the organizations, CA Highway Patrol partnering with Northern CA Child Development, Inc., and Corning Volunteer Fire Department, received funds to purchase toys to distribute to children living in the region. In the true spirit of the season, the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation partnered with the employees from Rolling Hills Clinic and the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians Tribal Government office to support the Tehama County Toys for Tots drive, contributing more than 275 toys to local children.
In addition, the Tribe partnered with the Red Bluff Chamber of Commerce to honor the most treasured community members, the elders, by providing them with a gift. In a heartwarming display of holiday spirit, Tribal Chairman Brandin Paya and Vice-Chairwoman Latisha Miller joined Red Bluff’s new mayor, JR Gonzales, and employees from Red Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Tehama Floral Company in Red Bluff’s senior living homes to spread holiday cheer, delivering stuffed animals and flower arrangements prepared by Tehama Floral Company.
These small gestures reminded the elders that they are loved and remembered. One gentleman initially declined the coffee mug floral arrangement, wanting to make sure there was enough for his wife. When he learned that every resident at the center, including him, would receive one, he was moved to tears. Another elder shared, “This made the holiday season even better. Thank you!”
Reflecting on the experience and contribution, Chairman Paya commented, “It is an honor for our Tribe to continue its tradition of generosity by contributing to the children, families, and elders throughout Tehama County during the holiday season. These acts of giving reflect our Tribe’s valuing of community.”
While simple, these meaningful gifts had a profound impact, brightening the holidays for children, families, and elders alike. This season, we are reminded that the true meaning of Christmas is found in giving and showing love in acts of kindness.
