The Corning Healthcare District, in Partnership with the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians Inaugurate Two State-of-the-Art Ambulances to Serve Southern Tehama County

CORNING, Calif (March 13, 2025) – The Corning Healthcare District is proud to announce its latest initiative to strengthen emergency medical services in South Tehama County. Recognizing the critical need for reliable after-hours and weekend medical response, the District has provided grant funding for two state-of-the-art ambulances to support Dignity Health St. Elizabeth Community Hospital’s emergency services fleet.

With St. Elizabeth Community Hospital serving as the sole emergency facility within the county’s 3,000 square miles, the addition of a Mobile Life Support Unit to the Corning posting location is a significant step forward. This development also supports the expansion of Solano Street Clinic, allowing for increased patient capacity and additional behavioral health resources in South County.

“The Corning Healthcare District is both proud and excited to be part of this important project.  The continual upgrading of the southern Tehama County emergency medical system is a key part of our strategic plan,” said Tina Hale. “Further we greatly appreciate the partnership with the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians on this vital addition to our community. Good things can happen when we all work together.”

“Our community faces significant challenges in accessing healthcare. By supporting the deployment of a mobile life support unit, we are helping to provide critical transportation for those in need. The addition of this ambulance aligns with our mission to enhance the access of healthcare in southern Tehama County,” said Brandin Paya, Chairman of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians. “This initiative will help ensure that our friends, families, and neighbors have reliable access to essential medical care.”

In partnership with the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians through the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation, the newest unit will be fully equipped to ensure prompt, high-quality emergency care for the community.

A celebration event will be held:

Date: April 3rd

Time: 12:00 PM.

Location:  275 Solano St, Corning, CA 96021

*Media representatives are encouraged to arrive early for setup.

“We are deeply grateful to the Corning Healthcare District and the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians for their generous support,” said Jake Mangas, President of Mercy Foundation North. “This partnership underscores the power of collaboration and will greatly enhance St. Elizabeth’s ability to provide timely and critical care to the communities of Tehama County. Together, we are ensuring a healthier, safer future for all residents.”

The Corning Healthcare District remains committed to its mission of bringing quality healthcare to Southern Tehama County. The District is honored to collaborate with Mercy Foundation North, St. Elizabeth’s EMS Operations Division, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, and valued community partners to help ensure the safety and well-being of local residents.
