Looking to a Bright Future, Together

A Vital Gathering Space of the Paskenta
Community Complex

It was crucial from the beginning design stage to final concept that our community was involved, honored and supported during this process. It is my hope that our new Community Center not only reflects our collective tribal values but will also be a beacon for evolution and growth for all who visit.

— Dru Alejandre, Tribal Chairman

Community Building

The Paskenta Community Complex sits at the heart of our community. It’s a physical space where we gather in fellowship and learn from each other, connecting across different generations.

This project included the renovation and expansion of the health clinic and the construction of two new buildings in 2021: our 17,200-square-foot community center and our 11,000-square-foot Tribal administration building. The community complex includes a multipurpose space—complete with a commercial kitchen, lounge business center, private meeting rooms, and an outdoor space—that holds up to 730 people.

It was important for us to incorporate meaningful design elements into the architecture of both buildings to reflect our culture and values. The Tribal Council worked closely with an architectural team to add in unique details that our members would recognize.

For example, the tribal administration building is a modern interpretation of a culturally significant round house and includes a central atrium and vertical living wall of plants. The new community center incorporates angled columns that extend out symbolically to welcome people to the space.

The creation of this new campus brings to life our vision of fostering a welcoming space for everyone.
