Marking a Historic Milestone while celebrating tradition and culture
Corning, Calif. – (June 27, 2024) – The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians is proud to present their upcoming inaugural Big Time Event, a significant milestone in the tribe’s history. This event, set to take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10 am – 5 pm at the Equestrian Center at the Rolling Hills Casino & Resort.
The Big Time Event, a free and open gathering, is a testament to the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians’ commitment to preserving and sharing its unique cultural identity. This event is not just for the tribe but for all to join in honoring ancestors and celebrating traditional customs.
“We are very excited to unveil our first-ever Big Time Event, a momentous occasion that embodies the heart and soul of our tribe,” said Tribal Chairman Andrew “Dru” Alejandre. “This event is more than just a celebration; it is a testament to our resilience, and commitment to preserving our cultural legacy for generations to come.”
Throughout the daylong event, guests will be able to experience ceremonial traditions and dances, as well as a variety of food vendors, unique native jewelry artists, and informational booths from community organizations and non-profits.
Visitors will also have the chance to see special guest Eric Michael Hernandez, a Native American Hoop Dancer and Storyteller from the Lumbee Tribe who has performed in Cirque du Soleil and participated at TEDxUCIrvine. In addition, there will be performances from eight different dance groups from neighboring tribes, and a kid’s zone hosted by the Rolling Hills Clinic, where children can play in a splash pad and enjoy waterslides.
In addition to its cultural significance, the Big Time Event holds great promise for the local community and beyond, serving as a platform for cultural exchange and economic empowerment. By welcoming visitors from near and far, the Paskenta Nomlaki Tribe aims to forge lasting connections and promote cross-cultural dialogue and appreciation.
