The Tribe gifts holiday-themed food items to 1,700 families
November 4, 2025, Corning, California – The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, through the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation, is donating 1,700 food bags to families in a community Food Distribution Event held in the parking lot of The Links at Rolling Hills Casino and Resort on November 13, 2025. Each bag contains holiday-themed traditional favorites – turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, canned green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, and bread. Held annually for the last six years, this event has become a tradition of the Tribe, bringing together volunteers and community partners to provide a generous gift to families in the community, with its aim to create meaningful and lasting memories during the holiday season.
Brandon Paya, Tribal Chairman of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, shares the aim of this event: “Our goal is to strengthen community bonds and inspire kindness in hopes it will ripple throughout the community long after the holiday meal is shared. Each food bag is a reminder of our responsibility to care for one another, which is an important endeavor to building a stronger and more supportive community.”
The Tribe shares their heartfelt gratitude with the volunteers who dedicate time to assist with logistic support and ensure the safety of attendees. The Tribe extends its appreciation to the team at the Corning Rotary Club, who annually assist with the food distribution in the Rancho Tehama community. Another valued partner that donates traffic management services is Basin Enterprises, Inc., whose team assists with safety management and provides clear guidance for traffic navigation. The team at Rolling Hills Casino & Resort also offers space, time, and staff to make the event a success. It is only with the contribution of many people that the event is possible.
The Tribe has made a significant impact on the regional community, contributing more than $20 million through voluntary charitable giving and strategic community investment initiatives over the last decade.
